Three subsystems

From the device to the decision

Switch Management

A true Level-II switch between data centers and networks, and the traffic manager for all transactions in and out of the system. Any message format in, any format out, with stand-in authorization, full traffic logging and reconciliation. Logs feed reporting, online viewing, audit control and interface files for downstream processing.

Device Handler

Support for ATM and POS devices attached to the institution's mainframe: authorization request and response, completion and status, and device message formats. ATMs are supported in both native and emulation mode, and all devices are monitored automatically, with notification to network control for problem resolution.

Authorization

Accesses in-house application files for transaction decisions and file posting. Multiple files are supported by institution, including checking, savings, credit card and loans.

Switch end points

Connected to your networks

End points are the device handler, authorization, external networks and other CPUs, in house or off site.

  • VISA
  • VDPS
  • CIRRUS
  • Other in-house or off-site CPUs

Routing

Issuer routing and acceptance

Switch Management routes transactions to issuer institutions and accepts transactions from other institutions for processing by the institution running the switch. Transactions to be processed against the institution's own files are routed to the Authorization System for approval or denial.

Regional networks, the Device Handler and the Authorization System are all end points of the switch, and all monetary transaction reporting runs through Switch Management.

Authorization

Tailored to your files and your vendors

The CV Systems input/output handlers are tailored at each installation to access and update your files according to the installation's specifications. Installation experience includes interfaces to products of other financial institution software suppliers.

Key management

ICSF module and Remote Key Load

HSM abstraction for IBM ICSF

A module that gives the transaction system a consistent interface to IBM's Integrated Cryptographic Service Facility.

Thales conversion utilities

Utilities that support moving keys from Thales hardware security modules to ICSF.

ATM Remote Key Load

Loading ATM keys remotely, without sending key custodians into the field.

Fraud Blocking™ is built into the switch

Because all monetary transactions route through Switch Management, the Fraud Blocking component adds an essential layer to the authorization process.
